Physical Education
Teaching & Learning
At Macarthur Street Primary School, all students take part in a one-hour Physical Education lesson each week.
In Years F – 2, the focus is on the development of fundamental movement skills, including run, leap, throw, catch, kick, strike, punt, vertical jump, dodge and bounce.
In Years 3 – 6, these skills are refined and used in sport specific games and activities.
At all times, students are encouraged to achieve their personal best, and to develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills. We aim for each student to have self-confidence and a positive attitude towards Physical Education, which will continue beyond their primary school years.
In addition to weekly Physical Education lessons, students also participate in:
- Whole School Swimming Program. (Term 2).
- School Athletics, Years 3-6. (Term 1).
- Interschool Sport, Years 4-6. (Term 2 and 3)
- A variety of free sporting clinics provided by external coaches as part of the Sporting Schools Program throughout the year.
At Macarthur Street Primary School, Physical Education is a fun experience for everyone!
