Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Term 4 has begun positively, with students settling back into their school routines with ease.
We’re delighted that the term has started with minimal disruptions, this is an ideal way to prepare for the upcoming assessments in the middle of the term.
We have had a wonderful start to Term 4. Week 1 was lovely and settled, many kids have shown such wonderful growth in their academic and learning behaviours. This week all students have continued to thrive in their learning. We have been learning about ‘teen’ numbers, and how to make, say and write these – it has been an interesting conversation about the numbers 11 and 12 though!
We have also been learning about different landmarks around Australia. One fun fact students learnt about the Great Barrier Reef is that it would take 24 hours of driving to drive from one end to the other! We have had a wonderful week, and really are hoping some nice weather will continue, as it seems the sunshine helps us learn.
Welcome Back, Grade One. let’s Do This!
It’s been a fantastic and busy start to the new term in our Grade One classroom!
In Literacy, our Sound Write focus has been the /ie/ sound — as in time, sky, night, kind, and tie. Students have been having fun discovering the different ways this sound can be spelled through reading, spelling, and word-building activities.
In Knowledge, we’ve begun exploring traditional Aussie foods. The class has loved learning how iconic treats like lamingtons, Anzac biscuits, and Vegemite on toast have become part of Australia’s history and culture.
In Maths, we’ve been tackling word problems using number sentences, and learning about fractions ½ and ¼ .
Super start to Term 4!
Grade 2 have had an excellent start to Term 4. Routines and expectations are clearly embedded in the classroom. Students have been completing morning routines without reminders, their engagement in all parts of the school day has been exceptional, and the quality of work they are producing demonstrates that they are ready to head into Grade 3 next year.
In Reading this term, students are looking at the same stories from different lands, comparing like or similar stories from different regions of the world. Students learnt how the story of Cinderella (a French origin), has many similarities to the story The Girl with the Red Slippers (Egyptian origins) such as; loosing a shoe, being discovered by a prince, getting married and living happily ever after. Over the coming weeks students will explore more worldly stories such as; Billy Beg, Tom Thumb, Thumbellina, Issun Boshi: One-Inch Boy and Little Red Riding Hood. They will continue to learn about the origins of the stories and compare and contrast the similarities and differences between each tale.
So far this term, Grade 3/4 students have been learning all about Africa. This week, we have narrowed our focus to Ethiopia.
Ethiopia is a fascinating country in East Africa. We’ve discovered that Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world, known for its rich history, unique traditions and breathtaking landscapes. Thus far, we have learned about some animals which are indigenous to Ethiopia such as the mole rat, famous landmarks like the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, and waterways including the Blue Nile River. We have also learned that coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia!
We will continue to learn more about this intriguing country over the next two weeks.
Last week in Grade 5/6 we have been writing descriptions about Spring.
Here are just a few of our amazing paragraphs.
Spring
There are so many incredible sights in Spring. One of the incredible sights in Spring are the flowers. They have so many colours and just look awesome. You can also see people out and about doing stuff like eating ice cream, riding bikes and scooters and going on walks. Also there are loads and loads of colourful fields including daffodil, canola and sunflower fields, they all look amazing. Spring is absolutely awesome to look at!

One of the all time best things about Spring is the smells. I love when the fresh smell of flowers awakens you. Going outside and taking a breath of nice Spring air is amazing, when you done inhale pollen that is. How nice is it when your parents just mowed the grass? It smells so good! Spring fills people all over the world with joy.

As the weather becomes warmer and Spring comes in fully, people tend to start eating different foods. Things like soups and stews are eaten less regularly, replaced by wraps, tacos and burgers. Home and fruit are more commonly used, their sugariness enjoyed by many. Ice cream and milkshakes are sought after, their coolness making many long for these loved desserts. As tastes you love and haven’t had for months come upon your tongue it reminds people of all the tastes of Spring.

So the three main describing senses are covered but uhhh, people? Do you hear that? That’s the sound of chirping! Yes the birdies come out alongside the bees to sing their songs and stories. You can hear them both, stay quiet and you can hear the bees’ buzzing and the birds rustles in the leaves. Spring truly is home to all kinds of nature.

So many feelings run through the air in Spring. When ever you go outside you can feel the cool breeze and the warm sunshine on your face. (Depending on the person) you could feel itchy from hay fever and the spikey grass. You can feel so many things in Spring

LET’S DANCE
This term in Physical Education, every year level has been moving, grooving and having fun through Dance!
Foundation students have been full of energy, learning action songs and exploring yoga movements to help build coordination, balance and body awareness.
Year 1/2 students have been stepping, twirling and clapping along to traditional folk dances, working together and keeping in rhythm.
Year 3/4 students have been swinging into some good old-fashioned Aussie bush dancing, mastering group formations, and having plenty of laughs along the way.
Year 5/6 students have brought their best cowboy boots for line dancing, learning to follow sequences and stay in time to the beat.
It’s been wonderful to see every student participating with enthusiasm and confidence — the library has been alive with music, rhythm and smiles!
Our Colour Run event will be held on Friday, 31 October 2025, right here at school.
So far, we have three staff nominated to be slimed – Mr Cross, Lachie and BJ!
